Annabelle's Story

Growing up in an isolated hill country farm on the edges of a national park in a remote corner of New Zealand has inspired a deep connection to the beauty and processes of the natural world which is a key element woven throughout Annabelle’s creative work.

Now grown up enough to call herself retired and not afraid of finally showing her natural hair colour the light of day, Annabelle divides her time between Dorset and London but is never too far away from a tree. When based in Dorset her studio window looks out across the magical and leafy valley of Milton Abbas, where she helps to run the local art group.

Annabelle’s work seeks to explore our deep connection to all things and how things are all connected. Never wishing to rule anything out, Annabelle explores colour and layer in her work, often combining a multi-media approach across acrylic and oil painting, print, collage, and 3D creations all of which embrace original and quirky themes.

Annabelle’s current exploration of the folk genre takes inspiration from a life long interest in blending the elements of fairy tale, folk lore, myth and alternative cultures. She is currently waiting for a new theme to arrive, but like a London bus, it seems to be taking it's time.

Annabelle's original and handmade greetings cards are much sought after and bespoke designs have been commissioned for London stores.

Annabelle's work has been collected around the world with buyers in Australia, New Zealand, America and the UK.

Apart from liking to look smug on top of hills, other interests include the development of educational programmes for early years.
