Katie's story
Ever since Katie was a small child, she has never been happier than when diving into art and craft supplies to create things. A few years ago, Katie attended a pastel workshop with her mum, led by local artist Tracy Walder, and felt like she had finally found her medium. Although Katie still loves experimenting in sketchbooks with different things, most of her final pieces are painted using pastels. Katie started in pastel pencils, but more recently has been playing with soft pastel sticks by making them wet and layering them in different ways to create interesting effects. Katie is also obsessed with colour! Where sparkly light and vibrant colours are to be found, she will find them, and use them as inspiration. Katie works full time in marketing, but does also sell her work and takes commissions via her website, with a percentage of profits being donated to local charity, Weldmar Hospice care.
